Bus checkpoints to save millions of gallons of gas

At the NASA Glenn Research Center, it's difficult to find parking anywhere on lab. Many people drive a huge 4-door sedan or SUV, just to drive themselves to work. For many suburbs, RTA buses are not spaced optimally for us and using them takes too long to get to work.

Drive Share Program

Institute a voluntary drive share program. Employees can anonymously enter their locations on a virtual map so that those near each other can easily connect via a software program. Work hours can also be posted to coordinate times. The program would even have the ability to coordinate so that one could travel in with one person and travel home with another. Reduce GOV Vehicles size and type

Reduce field office midsize to compact cars. 4 door midsize cars are not needed for field personnel. One field investigator per car, sometimes 2 go out on a team inspection and do not need bigger cars. Offices have vans if needed.Save gasoline, and other fees.

 

Hybrid vehicle fuel is not availble in this area where, 4 door hybrid vehicles were provided.
