Consolidate BASIC training at FLETC

Let's be realistic, the 4th amendment is the 4th amendment. So many Federal Agents change jobs and have to go through essentially the SAME academy at FLETC over and over again. There are some things that are consistent with Federal Agencies. Consider having a 3-4 month BASIC academy and then the agencies can sponsor their own specialized training.

Make all training materials electronic

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center should mandate that all agencies training at FLETC facilities transition all training materials (e.g. instructor guides, participant and reference manuals)to digital versions. Digital materials can be loaded to workstations and/or portable readers for instructor and student use during training.

Ways to save ICE money at FLETC

FLETC and its programs are conducted like a Basic Training facility for the U.S. Military. You have classes you attend to learn your job, written and physical testing that is conducted, firearms training, physical training and the fact that you march from class to class. Improve the Pass Rating at FLETC

According to FLETC you get two chances to pass the Physical Abilities Assessment (PAA). The first test is completed within in the first few days you arrive at FLETC, if you do not pass this one, they give you a few more days (about 3-5 days) to pass it again or be sent home. There are a total of 2 PAAs at FLETC; one that is completed at the first week your there, and another one that is completed about 1-2 weeks before... more »

Improve the Pre-Physical Fitness Testing for a LEO/ICE Position

Improve the Pre-Physical Fitness Testing ---At the Current Process, take a pre- physical test at the site where they conduct your medical evaluation. The pre-physical test currently consist of a Kneel/Stand Test, 15 Push Ups in 2 min and a Step Test that you have to keep a rate of 96 steps per min for 5 min.This testing does not qualify someone or prepare them to pass a Physical Abilities Assessment (PAA).
