Community Member kudos icon + Community member

Allow Social Security Recipients to Opt Out

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
I know of many older individuals that collect social security, but don't really need the money and would actually opt out if givin the option. It's hard to say what the end result would be, but I can't see any harm in sending out an annaul letter allowing social security recipients to opt out if they choose to do so... Of course, care would need to be taken as not to sound demanding or demeaning and measures would be... more »

Eliminate Foreign Aid to Hostile Countries

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
We have to much money going to countries that are harboring Terrorists and those would do harm to the United states. That money could be better spent here at home on our own people who are hungry, who are homeless, who are under-educated, who are destitute. We have way to many problems here that need to be taken care of first. Our infrastructure is falling down around us. There are bridges and roads in such disrepair... more »

Reduce and Elimate Contractor Logistic Support (CLS)

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
How about we work a lot harder to elminate CLS. We already pay soldier, sailor, or airman to do this job. Contractors avoid provisioning parts which delays organic support. The service should provision parts and write manuals since there are very few that are unique over history and most contractors don't finish manuals because they make more money if they fail. CLS is the epitomy of laziness, CLS should only be a... more »

FREEZE Funding of SESs responsibility re:travel and positions

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
Even Rip Van Winkle would understand the concept of our current debt debate, yet some SESers are still creating SUBORDINATE positions and traveling ad nausem to hither and yonder....R U Kiddin' me.

There needs to be an immediate freeze or at least Department head approval to continue growing the government and the excess travel. For example, if any objective, simple metrics can show limited workload yet an increase... more »

Subsidize personal smartphones for a dual business use

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
Instead of purchasing Smartphone’s/data plans for those of us who travel it would be cheaper for the government to pay a portion of our bill and set up an alternate number (via google voice, skype, etc.) that can be used to answer business calls. We can also use our existing data plans for business work if the need arises. I have a blackberry and use the data plan RARELY (meaning 1or 2 times a year), yet they pay for... more »

Criminalize vote bartering and ex parte legislative discussions.

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
When a piece of legislation is brought before a legislative body (either the House or the Senate), it is nothing short of bribery to vote swap (i.e., I'll vote for your bill if you vote for mine; or I'll vote for your bill if you give my district X dollars via an unrelated amendment).

Two rules could fix this:
1) No off-the-record conversations about pending legislation (ex parte communication). It is simply unfair... more »

Make Save Award Pay for Itself

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
If 2,000,000 of the total number Federal Employees each spend two hours on the Save Award, then the total cost of the Save Award can be estimated based on an hourly rate. Estimating at a rate of $30 per hour, the total cost is $120,000,000. The Save Award must then save more than $120,000,000 in order to break even. By this estimate, savings greater than $120,000,000 must be generated in order for the Save Award to... more »

Eliminate Air Force Linguists Receiving iPads

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
It has been announced that all Air Force linguists will be receiving iPads for their individual home studies related to their language(s). Previously, they were issued iPods to do the same. I can understand receiving a device that you can listen to linguistics, but to issue iPads at the super-high costs is an utter waste of DoD funds! The current iPods are not even used by the linguists for the purpose intended. To... more »

Stop Waste Spending (Landscaping, Large TVs, Construction Projec

Community Member kudos icon + Community member
Spend money towards defense instead of no value added spending. Billions are being spent across DoD on unnecessary landscaping, flat screen TV’s, construction projects, etc… Create a culture were saving money is a priority instead of spending. First, visit several installations identifying wasteful spending habits (i.e. landscaping, large flat screen televisions, not needed computers, not needed construction). Many... more »
