Close loop hole to assign wages to spouse

Currently we are paying benefits in cases where a self employeed individual assigned some or all of his or her annual wages to a spouse. This gets the spouse into insured status and eligible for retirement or disability benefits. Because of the thousands of dollars this can cause a household to gain or lose, the honor system is not a good gate keeper.

Social Security Statements

Recently mailing of Social Security Statements has been suspended. Currently the public can receive Retirement estimates online, but it does not display the yearly total of earnings. At the 800 number, there is nothing that we can mail to them with this information. This is a common request that unnecessarily takes up phone time and results in angry customers. More accurate wage reporting in MSSICS for SSI claimants

I suggest we change the way we estimate wages for SSI claimants. Instead of have just a monthly estimate, we could have a weekly, bi weekly, or monthly estimate.

This will increase the accuracy in the estimation of wages and prevent many overpayments that occur simply from there being an extra pay period in the month and so on.
