Expand Commisary & Exchange Benefits

The DoD should seriously consider expanding commissary and exchange benefits to DoD civilians and retired DoD Civilians.

These operations support MWR, and with an expanded clientele, they will be able to move more product and negotiate lower prices with suppliers, and thus, expand profits available for MWR purposes.

Make all Federal Government facilities non-tobacco campuses

Restaurants, bars, hospitals, school campuses, state offices, other business have gone NO SMOKING. Smoking causes: dependency, cancer, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bad breath, yellow fingers, wrinkles, is a major risk factor for heart problems/ stroke. More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.... more »

Civilian DOD Full-Time Air Reserve Technicians

I love my career in the USAF Reserves. As a full-time Air Reserve Technician the past two years we've been ordered to wear our part-time Reserve uniforms as DoD Civil Service employees daily. This is costing the USA government at 5 million dollars annually. Not to mention the yearly cash awards to other officers to maintain dress and appearance standards daily. Job Share/ Work Share

Some times work is busy, sometimes very slow, as we wait for work from others or contractors. Other workers around me, in different departments, encounter similar circumstances. Managers should be required to do a work load assessment on a weekly or monthly basis. Hire no additional civilians until personnel are at a designated work load capactity (i.e 90% work capacity).
