I believe that all government agencies should stop the procurement of copier and shredding machines for individual offices as funds could be saved on the leases and repairs of this equipment by requiring the usage of agency machines in copier rooms. Set printers to default to 2-sided copying

In addition to buying duplexing printers, operations staff should be directed to set most printers to automatically default to 2-sided copying. Most copy jobs can be 2-sided but it takes time and effort to manually change each copy job to 2-sided and people forget. Users could still manually change to single sided if necessary.

Sanity by attrition

We waste millions of dollars in copier, fax, and scanner time and supplies every day because one machine requires face-up input, while another requires face-down (resulting more often than not in 150 copies of nothing whenever someone uses a machine with which he or she is not familiar). Purchasing less equipment

Many offices have multifunctional photocopier devices (or reprographic equipment). These machines are able to copy, fax, print, and scan. Instead of buying different pieces of equipment (i.e., a multifunctional copier machine, a printer, a fax machine, and a scanner all for an office), just buy the one multifunctional copier machine.
