Send Training to Trainees, Not Vice Versa

I recently went to a training session at a cost of several thousand dollars per person, and the training was still in the development stages. I believe huge efficiencies and savings (both personal and monetarily) could have been realized if the quick reference guide, or DVD, or another method was simply sent to me with no personal travel involved. In this solitary case, millions of dollars could have been saved.

Reduce Irrelevant Training! and get back to work.

We waste thousands of hours and dollars on training that is not relevant to the employee and not relevant to the program. Some of these classes are repeated over and over again, every year. Some examples of this are the Civil Rights and Internet Security classes. Having all employees take these classes every year is excessive and a waste of time. Other examples include ICS 100, ICS 700, ICS 800, HAZWOPER, and NARA... more »

At this second, we are $14,546,716,998,177 in debt. It took me 6 seconds to type that number, and the debt raised $262,554(Over 260 THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!) while I was typing. Make Save Award Pay for Itself

If 2,000,000 of the total number Federal Employees each spend two hours on the Save Award, then the total cost of the Save Award can be estimated based on an hourly rate. Estimating at a rate of $30 per hour, the total cost is $120,000,000. The Save Award must then save more than $120,000,000 in order to break even. By this estimate, savings greater than $120,000,000 must be generated in order for the Save Award to... more »

Change Building Temperatures

Require warmer facility temperatures in summer and cooler facility temperatures in winter. Encourage people to dress appropriately for the season. Most facilities could change their temperatures a degree or two with little difference in occupant comfort. Over the entire federal government a huge cost savings can be recognized. Unoccupied spaces can be adjusted more significantly.

Feral Hog problem in southern states

The feral hog populations in several southern states (Texas to Georgia) are not only destroying private farm land, create hazards for roadways, they are destroying pristine federal wildlife management areas. Often the US Fish and Wildlife will pay to have helicopter crews try to flush these feral hogs out of areas and then they will be euthanized. It seems that the government shouldn't have to pay anything to have these... more »

Energy Audits are complete for a large number of federal facilities. These energy audits produced numerous recommendations that can produce savings at a rapid rate.
