workstation replacement schedule

Currently, the SSA network is one of the largest in the world with over 75000 workstations. The current replacement schedule is every 3 years. While some critical functions may need the most up to date equipment, that is not true for the vast majority of staff. Electronic equipment continues to become more reliability with each new generation. By increasing the replacement schedule for SSA's and other agencies' equipment to 4 years, we could achieve a substantial saving with minimal impact on the agency's mission and service to the public.
