DOE now operates lawn sprinklers in full daylight--bad idea! increased temps lead to increased evaporation (less water into the ground), and possibly burning the plants (due to refraction of light on water drops on plants). Operate water sprinklers just before dawn---more of the water will soak in, and it won't encourage fungal growth (as watering after dark can). Potential savings in water use!
