Wasted Manhours on Unnecessary Training

Every DLA employee receives the same list of mandatory training, regardless of the job they do. This list includes Defensive Driving, Stairway and Ladder Safety and Hazard Reporting. In our IT office of approximately 50 personnel, grades GS-12 and above, there is not one individual that deals with any of these issues as part of their duties. This means that, just for our office alone, a minimum of 100 manhours at an approximate cost of $4500 has been spent on taking this training when it has nothing to do with our jobs. By just tailoring the mandatory training requirements to the jobs performed, we can reduce spending by a minimum of $90 per person in our office alone. The cost to implement this would be limited to the amount of time it takes to tailor the training lists by job series, which is a fraction of the cost of one person taking this training.
