There should be a centralized database for all training and employee development. Currently, there are multiple databases within and external to ESS, and they do not all communicate with each other, including IDP, CHRIS, OLC2, PMCDP, and FAITAS (there are probably more). Identifying, documenting, and monitoring training is very inefficient. Employees are required to re-enter data in multiple databases, and are also required to cross-reference for consistency and completeness. It is even more cumbersome for supervisors, who must track multiple employees individually. Training requirements and opportunities are often poorly and/or inconsistently identified and provided and there is no real actionable database for the organization about who is provided what training at what cost, and the efficiency and effectiveness of said training.
