Department of Labor

Stop giving out plaques, busts, trophies for annual awards

Every year for the annual achievement awards, the Department of Labor gives out plaques to every person who gets an award. Over the last 15 years, I have accumulated a stack of about 20 wood, felt, and metal plaques that cannot be recycled or re-used. For these kinds of annual recognition awards, I wouldn't mind a simple paper or electronic certificate (especially since the Department has now starting attaching a monetary award to the annual achievement awards). Save the plaques and trophies for something truly rare and special.
