We in Chicago are fortunate to be surrounded by many Federal buildings housing many different agencies. We were able to participate in an office supply trade with other agencies in the area. It's amazing what supplies some agencies provide. It was like a shopping spree!! Items our office had no use for or things which we had in abundance, (tablets, pens, staplers, etc.) were brought to the "shopping" area and added to other agencies supplies. We were able to pick up many organizational supplies such as bins, accordion files, etc. in addition to white boards and markers. This was a great event and maybe other agencies could consolidate used supplies and do the same. It would save on spending so much on supplies and allows for interaction between agencies. It just goes to show that one person's trash is another person's treasure.
