Records in all areas of operations are inventoried, boxed in purchased storage boxes, shipped and stored for years - sometimes indefinitely, in storage facilities. These costs could be virtually eliminated by scanning documents and storing the information electronically. The original records containing PII could be shredded but everyday documents could be disposed of in a normal manner. Legal documents such as Promissory Notes etc. could be retained if necessary but the volume of those documents is very small compared to all the others - think of all the goverment offices all across the country and beyond... it boggles the mind how much could be saved!
