Reduce the M&IE rates in CONUS and FOREIGN. The standard rate U.S. would be more than sufficient in almost ALL locations. Most people lodge at hotels that serve a complimentary breakfast. Almost everyone eats lunch at a fast food place and most diners eat "on the cheap" for dinner so that they can pocket the cash. Those who are on extended TDY's often stay in rooms with fridges and microwaves and they buy microwavable food at a local grocery store and eat in their room every night. I won't even go into the enormous waste of money for foreign locations, wherein travelers get $100.00 to $200.00 per day. Dumplings and sauerkraut don't cost that much in Germany. I truly believe that the reason the M&IE rates have crept up is because the congressman and senators have bottomless pockets when it comes to dining.
