Performance that gets recognized gets repeated. Good performance that gets ignored becomes extinct. Create dynamos not dinosaurs! Thus, we should continue to endeavor to recognize our top performers throughout government. However, in this electronic age, do we really need to continue to print all those various award and training certificates? This would also free us from the financial burden of providing the associated frames and fancy award binders. The majority of folks throw these items in the bottom desk drawer immediately following the ceremony. I purpose that we save on this expense by electronically delivering the awards and certificates (this would also provide for more prompt feedback to the employee). We can make a hard copy and suitable frame/binder available to anyone that desires one (I’m betting that there will be few takers).
