Realignment of Care - Combat vs Rehab medicine

There is currently a serious gap of care between DOD and VA. The DOD provides outstanding combat casualty care - however the DOD is having challenges and spending a lot of money providing care once the wounded warrior returns to the united states to continue care. We are spending too much money and veterans are falling through the gaps between DOD and VA do to this.

Recommend to realign care. DOD should be responsible for combat care - and once the wounded warrior returns for the VA to take control of care. This will allow the military services to focus on combat medicine and VA to focus on rehab medicine. This alignment of care services will prevent duplication of efforts, save money, and most importantly advantage our wounded warriors and families. This will also save money on Tricare cost. The savings will be in the billions. VA should also be responsible for all active duty family and retiree care. This alignment makes sense. For DOD to continue to struggle and waste money trying to provide rehab care doesn't make sense. This will also force DOD and VA to work even closer - to care for our veterans and their families!
