All offices should be prohibited from printing, shipping, or mailing a document for interoffice use when an original signature or hard copy is not required by law. When hard copies are required, the cheapest available mailing or shipping method should be used provided that compromises should be made to maintain the integrity or a time-sensitivity of the item being shipped. In many cases, email and electronic signatures suffice and hardcopies are used because of people's personal preferences and not a business necessity. Documents for intraoffice use should also be electronic where possible, but until the capacity exists to have electronic files, there is no alternative.
