I think we should develop smart phone applications. The phone applications would enable users to read information about any agency they need information on. Also workers in the field could direct people to use the applications or use the applications themselves to obtain information. One specific application I would like to see developed is a QR reader. From Wikipedia - A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera telephones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data. I think these barcodes should be included on pamphlets, or flyers. The barcode would link to a larger document where the person could get more information. Certain publications could be eliminated. This could be used by any government agency and the savings would be in the millions. This will also reduce the amount of calls for information. The reduction of calls will enable more government workers to assist the public. This will also provide convenience for the American public. The opportunities are endless with this type of idea.
