MSHA Inspectors spend 15-30 minutes per day uploading and downloading information from the MSHA database to their laptops. Over the year this adds up to a substantial amount of time spent just waiting.

In order to save time and stress for the Inspectors shared PC workstations could be set up in common areas around the MSHA offices and used by the Inspectors to check emails and do other work while the download upload process is working on their laptops. When new PC's are purchased for employees in the office their old PC's could be used for the shared workstations. Old computer equipment should be used until it can no longer be repaired instead of excessing expensive machines that still work.
