My agency releases Principal Federal Economic Indicator data to the press via lockups. At these events, agency representatives carry stacks and stacks of paper with details like "the last time" something happened or a number was that high, how this number "compares to past numbers", etc. When someone asks a question, they have to dig through this material to find the answer as all lockups are precisely timed.
After the lockup, these stacks of paper are simply thrown away. I think it would be more useful to replace these stacks of paper with a netbook or small computer. Not only would these make it easier for Economists to look up facts by eletronically searching a word or phrase as they need it, but it would also eliminate the use of all that paper and ink that's wasted!
