SATO Travel is an inefficient, costly way for government employees to procure travel. They restrict flight options, which costs work hours/days, they charge 28.50 everytime you talk to them on the phone, which airlines do not, and they are often unable to rebook tickets and I have to call the airline directly anyways. These concerns are particularly valid for Alaska. AMHS ferry travel could be booked in one step vice 3-4 by going directly to them. Alaska Airlines and small operators sell tickets to SATO, but then any rebooking must be done directly with the airline anyways. Plus they cannot be booked on SATO's Get There site so we have to call them (at $28.50 a pop) just to be told we need to talk to the airlines directly.
