In Air Force Basic Training, we had an Officer remind us that the job of the military is to kill people and break things. It sounds harsh, but it's what we do best. However, that's not what the military is being used for. For example, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been dragging on for years, costing the taxpayers tremendous amounts of money. Much of that money (not to mention many American lives) could have been saved if the military had been allowed to use its full might on the battlefield. The US miitary has the ability to bomb any country in the world back to the stone age within six months. It's what we're best at. However, war is becoming more and more civilized. That's the wrong approach. It's war. If the politicians are not willing to kill people and break things, they should not even send the military in in the first place.
