I believe that it would be of benefit to the Government to review Federal facilities for indoor air quality and employee health changes due to climatic change.
A new report is due to be released from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) summarizing the state of scientific understanding of the effects of climatic change on indoor air and public health (Climate Change, the Indoor Environment, and Health). A review of federal facilities would serve as an example and the basis for identifying corrective actions that could be employed to counter the effect of changing weather and pollution patterns. What group would be more able to initiate this process than the EPA? This would be an ideal example of Government at work to better our living conditions in these turbulent times.
The report (Climate Change, the Indoor Environment, and Health) is currently available for download in pre-publication format from the National Academies Press.
