Everyone's attention is focused on "fixing the Tax Code". However, I believe that many Federal laws and regulations are so illogical or enacted for strictly political purposes that merely complying with them either adds unnecessarily to our deficit or hamstrings agencies' efforts save a meaningful amount of money. I think that Congress should empanel a group of independent regulatory and economic experts to review all non-tax laws and regulations in search of ways to eliminate or modify those provisions which hamstring agencies or cause the Government to waste funds (i.e., pork-barrel spending or spending that simply makes no sense).
