Give option to convert unused FSA money to the CFC at end of yr

The mission of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is to “promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.” For many of us that participate in the Federal Flexible Spending Account program (FSAFEDS), the unused remaining balance is forfeited at the end of the year (after grace period). Why not give the employee the option to donate that remaining balance to a CFC recipient of their choice? It’s a win win situation for all. Everyone is familiar with that time of the year…when managers up the chain of command beat a dead horse over donating to the CFC…Finally a way to better help a good cause. Unfortunately, it is rumored that the employee’s unused FSAFEDS money remains with their agency if not spent before the deadline. So, tough sell to the respective agency on backing this option…as I can’t imagine an agency would offer to give up this slush fund...
