Function-based tax equation eliminates loopholes

Anyone else look at a continuous function in algebra class and wonder why on earth with all we know that our taxes are computed using large brackets? Seems to me a linear function would do one better. Any contributions or deductions would then affect your rate (however slightly) as well as your lower taxable income, and not just for the handful who are close enough to try to jump brackets. So there's more incentive for giving, and less room for CEOs trying to jump through hoops.
