The White House could develop a program which promotes and encourages Federal Agencies to source products and services from the local community whenever possible if the products/services are available at a competitive market price. The Agencies would see a cost savings by reducing the amount of money spent on freight and shipping of items and the distance federal employees must travel to meet with vendors. There would be an environmental savings by reducing the amount of fuel required to transport the items and personnel. Finally this initiative would help support the local economy in which the federal employees live in. This approach would benefit the Government, the environment, and hardworking Americans.
