The Federal Acquisition Regulations are available online. They are updated as regulations are modified etc. Instead of giving out FAR Manuals (thick books) which are usually updated annually, use the online version in training sessions and in the office. I went to a training and the FAR manual that was lat revised in January 2011 was distributed. The book was already out of date when I took the training in May. The presenter accessed the FAR link during the training; however, the printed materials given to the class, including the FAR manual did not include the recent updates. When government employees are sent to FAR trainings, they could take their laptops to access the FAR site and the cost of the training could be reduced because the Agency would not have to pay for the manual.
