FEMA can use other agency flood mapping for interim use to revise Flood plains. For example, The USGS has completed a flood study that lowers the Base flood eleveation for Braes Bayou in Houston Texas by 4 feet. FEMA says they can't/don't have to/won't use the USGS study. So 1000s of homeowners are paying for flood insurance when we are no longer at risk for a 100 year flood. FEMA can save millions of dollars by cooperating interagency with USGS instead of paying for redundant flood studies.
