The Recovery Act introduced additional requirements for the public to track where we were spending the stimulus dollars. But who looks at these excel spreadsheets? USASpending.gov (which wasn't always correcct), federalreporting? or finding a posting in grants.gov or fedbizops? But everyone can follow a tweet! It is accountable, it is transparent, and you don't have to build these tremendous databases that no one uses, and the cost to modify them is enormous. Look, folks set up twitter acounts for turtles and cobras, we can set up accounts for government funds that says when we are going out for contract (withought divulging any amount at that time) tweet when it gets awarded, adn tweet when we start to outlay the funds. At least peole can really start to follow the money.
