Eliminate Unnecessary Training. No one disputes the importance of technical, job-related training-if anything, we need more of that. But why are we asked to take 40 hours of acquisition training per 2 years to remain "certified" as a FAC-COTR? This training is not only expensive but a diversion from our assigned duties. As an agency, we already had an effective COTR training program that required only a 3-hr refreshers every 3 years - now we need some elaborate 40-hr endevour. Technical people need training to stay updated in their fields of expertise; we have acquisition specialists to provide needed acquisitions expertise.
