After contract agreements to purchase federal automobiles, not including those needing quick acceleration or for security, electric and hybrid government vehicle should be purchased to reduce spending for gasoline. The hybrid vehicles should be those engineered to use battery power while in idle and at speeds up to 20 mph. This is a first step in removing some government dependency on gasoline. It should prove to show that the federal government is doing its best to conserve funds and the environment.
