Existing CG policy authorizes the providing of flight meals to aviation personnel engaged in flight operations during meal hours at no cost to the member.
If a non aviator is engaged in operations during meal hours, that person may be provided a box lunch (identical to a flight meal in composition) which will costs that member $4.25.
The CG spends in excess of $500K annually to fund this program of providing free flight meals to the aviation community due to a law that was passed during WWII.
All personnel serving on Active Duty recieive an allowance for subsistence.
My suggestion will not result in the unavailbility of a flight meal, it will simply mean the person consuming the meal will be charged for it as is the case with the non aviators.
Not hating on the aviators at all, just wanting to get the policy equitable for all. 3rd time putting this suggestion in...every year the amount we pay just keeps going up....
