I know someone who is trying to by a $60 dollar piece of hardware for his computer. There are no security concerns, but the purchase has been in 'committee' for a few weeks. There have been a number of meetings and emails about this product. The cost of the those meetings and emails is not captured anywhere. If 5 people spent 1 hour on this task, the cost would be well over twice the cost of the original product itself. If we assigned costs to meetings and committees we could better understand the true cost of our equipment and plan accordingly.
