Currently, many agencies require that federal employees use agency-issued Blackberries for federal email for security reasons. However, many employees would rather use their own personal smartphones to access their email, which is not currently possible. By revising both the systems and the appropriate policies, we could make employees happier while also significantly reducing the amount that the agency must pay for mobile devices. In addition, those who have not yet been issued a Blackberry can be more productive by being able to use their own device when away from their computers.
