Here at Hoover Dam wasting water is a big issue. So than why do we have a lawn and all of its associated costs in front of our Regional Offices? I propose that to save costs and water we return the lawn back into desert landscape. Even further still, I propose we save money by cutting back on all lawn services including the ones at the White House. If there are any complaints than we should have our Congressmen do ...more »
RAIN BARRELS I work at Hoover Dam so water is very important to me. There has been an ongoing drought over the past decade and the southwest is going to run out of water sooner than later. We should have rain barrels or cisterns to collect the rain when it comes so infrequently to be used to water the lawn at our regional offices. Even Hoover Dam should do its part at conserving water. LET THE LIGHT SHINE IN!
Like most government workers I spend my time behind my desk bathed in fluorescent light. I would propose the possibility of when light bulbs burn out that the replacement ones are a more user friendly color. Fluorescent lights are depressing because they have a cooler color temperature than the sun. Everyone is happier when bathed by the sun and not a fluorescent light!
I work at Hoover Dam in the Property/Vehicle Maintenance Group. Among other things that my office is responsible for, we handle all of the shipping and receiving .You would be surprised how much ‘stuff’ it takes to run Hoover Dam. If time is money than waiting for my computer to process information is costing the government tons of it. There are days when some of the essential programs on my computer run slowly. Sometimes so slowly that it takes half a minute for the system to complete its requested task. The software I am speaking about is called CARMA, but I am sure that because of the nature of computers this problem is government wide. I ...more »
