The legislative branch of government was originally all volunteers. Now too many run for election just to get wealthier than they already are. If they impose a national heath system on the rest of America, they shouldn't be exempt. Concerning retirement, the package should mandate that they must serve a total of 20 years before they are eligible to pull a retirement. No wonder Washington is messed up, we treat them ...more »
Currently Field grade officer's have to move every two to three years if they want their career to keep progressing. These moves are costing the taxpayers millions a year. By having them move every four years to six years, would save millions that could be used for something else.
I've lived in Alaska and visited the ANWR area. The Caribou love the pipeline for the warmth it generates in the Winter. Drilling can be accomplished safely. We shouldn't be making Middle East countries wealthier.
Currently the Federal Government gives takes breaks to large Oil companies. Whenever they lose a dime, to natural disaster etc. they pass on their loss to the consumer. While the taxpayer watches Gas prices sky rocket, Oil companies report earnings of Billions of dollars to their stock holders and the Federal Government keeps giving them breaks.
Mr. President, Suggest you make it mandatory for every level of management in the Armed Forces and other Government organizations, to have folks trainined in Lean Six Sigma/Quality. Improving our processes to save time, money and working more efficiently is something every level of management should be looking at, from bottom to top. If members of congress or someone running for President wants to campaign, let them raise the money themselves. Taxpayers shouldn't be paying for TV/Radio adds to slam someone or build someone up. We shouldn't be paying for trips or flyers, if someone wants to run for office so they can get all of the perks, they should fund it themselves.
Members of the house and senate spend too much time traveling back and forth between their constituancies and D.C. at taxpayer expense. We pay you to stay there and do a job. You have staffs that can read emails and letters from your constituents. Quit masking campaigning as official travel.

Give them the option to: -Take the monetary equivalent for hours -Pay IRS Taxes -Contribute monetary equivalent to Government for debt reduction -Contribute monetary equivalent to recognized charitable organization like food bank or cancer research ...more »
While working as a contractor in Germany, there were several occasions that I would travel ahead of the Government employee to accomplish work. When the Government employee would arrive, I wasn't allowed to pick them up at the Airport because it could be percieved as favoritism. This was nothing but a waste of taxpayer dollars. Rental cars in Europe a much more expensive than in the states. The taxpayer was paying ...more »
Currently all of the Services write their own contracts in support of their efforts. All of these separate contracting offices should be pulled up to allign under one DoD contracting Agency responsible for writing and managing all DoD contracts
The responsibilities of the Defense Logistics Agency should be expanded. Currently all of the Services have their own Logistics Commands/Agencies. Recommend they be pulled up to one DoD Logistics agency.
Currently in the DoD we treat our high ranking officers like kings. We provide them mansions to live in, grounds keepers, cooks, drivers, secretaries and aids. They get treated as well as a CEO of a fortune 500 company at tax payers expense. All of this goes on while the SES that works in the office next to them drives their own car, pays for their own gas, pays for their own house, transportation etc. Just because ...more »
