Save $500 Billion: Use 2 Shifts Not 1 for All Gov Employees

The Government could save $50 billion per year by having two shifts of white collar employees work each day. Office space costs $50,000/year for each employee yet we only use space 30% of time. We can no longer afford to have banker's hours for all. With over 2 million federal employees this cost-free paradigm change could avoid lay offs/furloughs and reduce pollution. This would cut overhead per employees in half. Savings... more »

Stop making so many laws.........

It is your rules that make unlawful beings. You would get along better if you would just trust each other to treat each other appropriately, but you don't. So you keep making laws — until you make criminals of everyone.

Online inventory mangement and Bar code tracking in VHA

Across the Veterans Administration Hospitals, expensive disposable and implantable equipment used for patients undergoing a variety of medical and surgical procedures is mismanaged with an archaic, paper-based inventory system. Due to the absence of current inventory information, existing inventory expires on the shelf, even as orders are placed for the same equipment again. Further, the lack of online access to information... more »

Incentives for Saving

Every time a government employee has to travel on official duty we are forced to use SATO or some other agency designated travel service to purchase our mode of travel & lodging. I have in my possession a copy of a travel confirmation in which the airline ticket cost the taxpayers $1881.80. This ticket could have been purchased for approximately $1000.00 less online without going through SATO. When you add up all the... more »

Stop Government travel junkets under the guise of training.

Every year, thousands of dollars are wasted on travel for airfare, per diem, hotels, taxi fare, etc. for meetings, or training, consultation etc. The majority of the junkets are to resort areas. In this recession, we can not afford to send upper management officials to vacations under the guise of "training". Send the book or DVD. Do a free teleconference on Skype. If you need a vacation, use your own funds and leave,... more »

Reduce Irrelevant Training! and get back to work.

We waste thousands of hours and dollars on training that is not relevant to the employee and not relevant to the program. Some of these classes are repeated over and over again, every year. Some examples of this are the Civil Rights and Internet Security classes. Having all employees take these classes every year is excessive and a waste of time. Other examples include ICS 100, ICS 700, ICS 800, HAZWOPER, and NARA... more »

Purchasing and Agency Surplus

Maintain an agency surplus for office supplies and equipment that offices can use to meet their needs. Likewise, offices can add to that surplus every 6 months, by combing through their own supplies and equipment which is not used. I'm the purchasing agent and equipment inventory coordinator for my office. We have less than 150 employees who make little effort to request items which would save any money to the Government.... more »

End Budget Crisis

I have a way to collect a billion dollars a year from insurance companys. The VA doesn't bill insurance companys on the devices that are used and are losing a billion a year. Pick my idea and

Mr. President I can get this working across the Nation.
