TRAVEL PAY EFFICIENCY

I would like to stream line the process of veteran's receiving their travel pay. 1. The Veteran's ID cards would be used as a credit card for the veteran. The travel office would work with my healthy Vet to set up these credit accounts for the veterans. 2. Upon check out from their appointment the clerks would swipe the veteran's ID card. This would notify the travel clerk that the veteran had been to an appointment. ...more »

Dr. Alisa Arnold, PT, DPT

How about an idea that would save the VA hospital TONS of money annually in addition to providing quicker more convenient care to veterans. Physical Therapy (PT), without question, is a very effective means of addressing multiple medical issues that significantly impact the quality of life of today's veterans. PT services are generally most effective when provided on a multiple time per week basis. For example 3 x's ...more »

BIG savings from a Small town.

I have several ideas but here's just a few. Our printer alone prints out 30-50 pieces of paper per day that are either not ours or not significant. We have 450 printers in our VA medical center! Our printer alone is spewing off over 10,000 unused/unwanted copies per year, take that times 450 printers! We averaged the waist to be nearly $30,000 per year. Just for our small town facility. Can you imagine the waste? Also ...more »

Travel Pay Over Paid

Many people are very aware of the abuse of travel pay by many veterans. Some say it should be eliminated but that will most likely not happen anytime in the near future. I am a nurse in Primary Care at a VA and witness and report this abuse frequently. Many veterans truly need help to get to their appointments and developing our own transportation system, as others suggested would also cost a great deal. For the fastest ...more »

ELMINATE VETERAN TRAVEL PAY SYSTEM

Hundreds of thousands of dollars are wasted each month to pay veterans for coming to their medical appointments. This leads to many veterans falsifying their addresses to increase the amount of money they will receive and making daily, unnecessary healthcare appointments for the sole purpose of receiving pay. The latter seriously and needlessly overburdens our healthcare system leading to the need for more staff, which ...more »

Better Monitoring of Veteran Travel Pay with GPS

Millions of dollars are issued each year to veterans who qualify for travel pay benefits in order to come to the VA for medcial appointments. The problems is... it is the easiest system in the world to scam. Veterans are paid based on the distance from the address they have listed in their medcial record to the VA facility. Often veterans will list an address of a relative who lives far away on their medcial record ...more »
