We can stream line overlapping law enforcement functions/jurisdictions, and save money, have a higher amount of productivity and utilization of resources,a stronger more defined mission, and a stronger more supportive Chain of Command adherant to the Criminal Law Enforcement mission. This will be accomplished by consolidating the criminal law enforcement functions of the underutillized, misappropriated "orphan" positions... more »
Why does a completely tax exempt organization voluntarily throw away billions of dollars by paying taxes on travel? I travel a lot for the Navy and detest that taxes for TDY travel expenses are charged to my government credit card. Though the Government Treasury will get the taxes back, for the Navy and the Program Office (PMA), those funds are lost. Those lost and unrecoverable funds, which can quickly add up to billions,... more »
Change income tax to a flat rate across the board. No deductions, no exclusions. Have a rate for companies and business that is also flat, perhaps with ranges for # of employees. But again on other deductions.
Reduce the # of ssa payment centers. We have a payment ctr in Baltimore, New York, Boston, and Philadelphia. I say close Philadelphia because it is the least productive. Payment centers deal with post-adjudicative actions. The local field offices are doing important work.
If we keep our govt salary the same and charge us alittle extra for our pensions, we would lose alot of dead weight at the top. Right now, they sit and collect a ck but if you tap into their ck, they would leave. Our agency SSA lost alot of people when they reduced the overtime hours.
Why request an IRS W-4 if they are not retained? Simply do the input and save the paper.
Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) are assigned to taxpayers who are not eligible for social security numbers for various reasons, but a huge amount are assigned to illegal immigrants who want to report income and collect free money like additional child tax credit from the government. They are not allowed to use them to work under, which is ludicrous. They are forced to steal or make up social security... more »
There should be 1 Web Site that shows where all Federal Tax Money is spent every year. Just like a business, the investors (taxpayers) deserve to know how their business (government) is performing. The expenditures should be broken down as: Medicare/Medicaid $XXXXXXXXXXXX Social Security $XXXXXXXXXXX Defense Spending $XXXXXXXXXXX etc. The Taxpayer could click on the above category and get specifics within that category.... more »
Move to a flat tax on all income. Wages, dividends, capital gains, everything. This would almost eliminate the need for extensive oversight by the IRS, dramatically reduce errors on returns and would save bucket loads of money in adminstrative costs.
Taxpayer's choice. Give the taxpayer a direct choice of what they want to fund. Mandate a percentage each taxpayer's income that has to be contributed. Create a list of organizations (i.e. DoD, Welfare or General Fund) that the tax payer can elect to "donate" to. This way the organizations have to prove to the taxpayer that they are worth the money. If the organization proves worthly taxpayers will directly... more »
Relocation Cost Cutting Establish a Home of Record I suggest that Federal Government employees be allowed to establish a home of record similar to the U.S. Military and PHS. Currently staff must re establish themselves as they move from state to state with each move. They must register their vehicles (with costs ranging from $300 $3000), get a new driver’s license (from $10 $50), and use administrative leave (costing... more »
Eliminate Income tax and institute a Federal Sales Tax. This will end all of the debate in Congress about spending and tax cuts and allow for a uniform sales tax across the nation. The debt crisis would be a thing of the past.
Can anyone justify the expense and extra labor required to pay, withold, then return a portion of federal wages? One would think a wage could be computed where fair allowance of would be taxes could be factored into the scale.
H.R. 25 is also known as the Fair Tax. Rather than explain the details in 2000 characters or less, I'll simply suggest that everyone read the book by Neal Boortz. One feature is the abolishment of the I.R.S. This will save money in two obvious ways: first, closing a government agency; second, stopping members of congress from buying votes from corporations through creative changes to the current tax code. Companies... more »
A lot of boys and girls grow up and want to serve their country. These children see their parents working hard, paying their bills, being honest, and respecting each other. When some of these children grow up, they decide that they want to run for political office. Some of these big children get elected to the Congress in Washington DC. WHAT HAPPENS??? A lot of these big children forget the importance of paying their... more »
