Eliminate Duplicate Forms

For example, in SSA, if someone is denied disability benefits, we send them another medical authorization form, adult / child disability report, & a large return envelope. Have them only submit new info & go into the offices since everything is already electronic from the initial claim. Rep Payee accountee forms & disability update forms are sent out several times over. Suspend benefits if they can't return forms on time. ...more »

Save BILLIONS – Repeal DOMA

This is not a new social issue. Generations have had stable, non-traditional living arrangements. The Founding Fathers would want a tweak in federal law to promote efficiency, quality, simplicity, speed, & EQUITY. One simple change would put tens of thousands back into these households & the general economy. The IRS would feast on hundreds of thousands in “marriage penalties.” The welfare system would benefit by fewer ...more »

IRS

Create a new box just like the one already on the tax forms that allow individuals to contribute to the presidential reelection fund--the new box would be "debt elimiation". All monies going to this would be to reduce and eventually eliminate the debt.

SSA BENEFIT LETTERS

As an employee of SSA we get alot of clients that call each day for benefit verification letters. My idea is that we make the benefit verification letters open to the public via the ssa.gov website. This would cut down on paper, mailings as well as calls to the 800# for this information. The public would be able to access this information theirselves and at there own time and cost.

Restructure SSA Field Offices

Restructure the Field Office personnel by adding one Benefit Authorizers (BAs) and one Claims Authorizers (CAs). BAs would be able to assist with: • Processing A101’s for claims • Explaining overpayments notices such as a breakdown of the actual overpayment and the reason for the overpayment CAs would be able to assist with: • Adjudicating claims • Computing rates involving worker’s compensation/public disability offset ...more »

Paperless Processing System

Allow the SSA Field Offices access to the paperless processing system. Currently, Field Office employees query the PCACS system to see if there are any outstanding issues and/or diaries associated with the SSN. If PCACS shows something pending in Paperless, then Field Office employees can not view that information. By access to the Paperless Processing System: • Field Office employees will be able to view all documents ...more »

Upgrade the Contact Representative (TSR) job

Provide the TSRs with more job knowledge and/or skills so they can service the general public more efficiently. The number one complaint received regarding poor customer service on SSA’s National 800 Number is “the TSRs are not knowledgeable enough to service them, thus having to refer the call to the Field Office for assistance. Upgrading the TSR’s job will: • Allow the National 800 Number to become a 1st call resolution ...more »

Anonymous Interviews for all jobs- SAVE EEOC COMPLAINTS!

Too often high-ranking officials choose those most like them for promotions and unfortunately discriminate against more qualified minorities. Perhaps it is time for others outside the region to choose who to promote through anonymous interviews, thus race and ethnicity are not a part of the hiring decision. Such methods are used when submitting dissertations for doctorate degrees. The dissertation is not judged by "who" ...more »

Crack down on Fraud

We received a detailed letter that is apparently widely passed around in prisons, the letter essentially provides detailed instructions on how to file for SSI/RSDI after getting out of jail/prison. It provides for a very "assured" way of getting in by successfully faking mental disorders. After carefully reviewing the instructions we determined that in fact if followed properly, anyone following the instructions could ...more »
