Reduce Paper copies of IPAC supporting documentation

When being billed for services from other federal agencies, we receive hard copies in the mail of Treasury Form 7306 - the billing statement to support the billing via the Intra-Governmental Payment and Collection (IPAC) System. Digital Signature for Word docs

Eliminate printing and signing word documents by using the ApproveIt add-in across the DOD. I believe the Army has already implemented this, but not the other services. The ApproveIt add-in allows a CAC enabled signature on MS Word docs, rather than just the picture embedded that is inherint to MS Word. Reduce paper - stop use of printouts in meetings

Provide IT departments tablet units, such as Cisco Cius, Apple IPAD, Samsung Galaxy or Blackberry Tablet units which may be used to load presentation and other meeting materials on to stop the use of handouts in meetings. Tablets with wireless capability not only eliminate the handout paper, but also the note taking papers which either clutter desks or fill recycling containers.

Stop printing out our names!! And the Use of Printing Quotas

Every time I passed by the recycling bin next to the office printer, I often see piles of paper in there that are not documents from work but rather the pages with people’s name and the document’s title. This is such a waste of ink and paper because most people just throw them away. Set printers to default to 2-sided copying

In addition to buying duplexing printers, operations staff should be directed to set most printers to automatically default to 2-sided copying. Most copy jobs can be 2-sided but it takes time and effort to manually change each copy job to 2-sided and people forget. Users could still manually change to single sided if necessary.

Eliminate paper licenses- Waste of money

Currently for credentialing and privileging purposes, all licenses must be verified before completing an application which is usually done online as primary source verification which is acceptable by the Joint Commission. Then within 5 days a written license request has to be mailed. Usually the state licensing boards require a fee, some as high as $50 per license verification.
