4) Add a feature that changes claimant’s address in CPMS and at the field office. Currently, we have “to do items”. This is another feature that increases time for each case that is unnecessary. 3) Add a “Batch Processing” for Exhibit Letter to Representative/Clmt when case is worked up. We could run the “batch for all our cases in wkup and it would send to efile”. This would save lots of time from going in and out of each case individually and decrease backlog. This would improve the speed and efficiency of working up cases that would ultimately improve processing time and reduce backlog
In California the State workers endured the now famous "furlogh Fridays". However, when they were no longer forced to do this, many workers found that they wanted to continue to do this. Instead of a punitive 6% reduction, let's offer this option of a 4 day work week to the Federal Employees. I recently did my monthly rotation at the front desk. Over two hundred claimants called for an updated status on their claim in one day. Each claimant should have electronic access whether by phone or computer to check their status on their claim. Currently, we have to run numerous queries when working up cases and scan them into the files including a DIBWIZ. The DIBWIZ query is very informational regarding all aspects of the cases and has most of the required queries all compiled into one master query (the only one that is missing is the certified earnings records which really is not essential because that information is also within DIBWIZ). Although Ful Time Telework won't work for everyont, I do think that there are some 25 - 50% of most Agencies that could perfom their functions from an alternative worksite. Many managers are uncomfortable with this but it would be a matter of changing their style of managing. If there were automatic expiration dates on emails sent out by management/supervisors, etc., it would help clear virtual space on the computer email and drives, thus maintaining a lower memory/storage and speeding up the computer's applications. Allow any leave (sick, annual, lwop) to be transferred from one employee to another regardless of reason or relation. Stop using manpower to determine whether someone qualifies for VLTP or not, just set up a log-in system where people that have leave to donate can offer leave to people who are in need of leave. When represenatives of claimants (at the hearing level) submit medical evidence within seven days of the hearing, those medical records must be sent to contracted medical experts scheduled to testify at the hearing by FedEx. Allow employees to use a specific amount of unpaid leave, without penalty to leave, SCD, etc, upon supervisor's approval, of course.
There are many government offices close to each other in big cities. Move some of them to cheaper locations, for example move an office from the Washington DC area to Manassas where there is plenty of space, cheaper expenses, and is close to public transportation.
Not everyone participates, and those who do, can donate in other ways, and on their own time - and get credit for themselves... not just let their government agency take credit for the donations.
Each year employees are taken away from their regular day jobs to "volunteer" (still getting paid) to plan bake sales and silent auctions.
