Moving in/out list-serve/ website

NIH provides excellent training opportunities for vast and diverse set of nationals. These significant number of intramural trainees move in near vicinity of NIH to commute back and forth. Reimburse Transfer of Station (TOS) Costs and only to a limit!

When you tell a business you are moving, you get a certain price quote. However, if the government sets it up, the average cost to move a GS-12 is 140,000 dollars!!! Seriously? People who aren't feds move all of the time, and it can't possibly set them back 140,000 dollars each time. It's ridiculous. Let people move themselves, and then pay us back. This would also be a great way for ...more »

If we had a 2 track system, people that desired it could be experts in their field and stay that way for long periods of time doing a great job. Further, officers wouldn't need to move every 2 years for "advancement opportunities" saving PCS money. Morale improves, because officers won't have to serve terms as glorified ...more »

Incentive for Self Move Relocation When Changing Gov't Jobs

It should be obvious to everyone that renting a U-Haul and moving yourself is a much cheaper option than spending enormous amounts of money to have professional moving companies move household goods when federal employees transfer to a new duty station. The governemnt should offer to cover the costs associated with moving your possesions yourself along with a cash incentive for doing so. The self moving costs even with ...more »
