Veterans' Page to reduce overlapping services

Why do Vet’s mental health issues slip through the cracks? Make Telework a reality, not just a deceptive “check in the box”

Everyone seems to support Telework, yet very few employees participate, and if they do, it’s for one day a month, or something just as silly. We are paying people to be sick and to keep getting sicker. Require at a minimum that ...more »

Mental Health Evaluations For Those Joining The Military

Currently I am employed as a Mental Health Techinician in the USAF. It has become apparent to me that there are quite a few members who have seemed to slip through the cracks and end up having mental breakdowns or have disorders before joining the military. The psychological "screening" that is in place right now is not as efficient as it could be. A great deal of money is spent training individuals, and even more so ...more »

Shift work in Nursing

My unit requires nurses to work shifts with a specific off tour. I feel the way the department schedules nurses results in many many sick calls, and increases the amount of overtime the VA pays out. For example, our unit will schedule you during the day, but then have to "double back" into a night shift 8 hours later. Or work a pm shift ending at midnight, and have to be back at 730 am. The type of work we do is demanding, ...more »
