Some professional technical agencies, including my own (DCAA), assign nearly all administrative and documentary tasks to the relatively high paid professional workers (e.g., completion of draft travel voucher, documentation of audit working papers and report, etc). Lighting typically accounts for 25% to 50% of energy use in most buildings. During our summer internship at EPA Region 9, we recognized 2 easy ways to increase lighting efficiency: adopting occupancy sensors and LED bulbs. Kick the Can, USA!

As summer interns in the Region 9 office of the Environmental Protection Agency, it has been exciting to see that EPA practices what it preaches! One of the best sustainability initiatives in the San Francisco office is to replace personal trash bins with larger bins in communal areas of each floor.
