STOP THE INSANITY! Why Throw Away $$$ Billions???

Why does a completely tax exempt organization voluntarily throw away billions of dollars by paying taxes on travel? I travel a lot for the Navy and detest that taxes for TDY travel expenses are charged to my government credit card. Though the Government Treasury will get the taxes back, for the Navy and the Program Office (PMA), those funds are lost. Those lost and unrecoverable funds, which can quickly add up to billions,... more »

This may give a better way to understand cyclical spending and to search for potential problem areas related to excessive spending.

Abolish the paper trail

Abolish the paper trail! Save the government time & money! We can even reduce privacy violations by eliminating the need for information to be recorded or transferred via paper. This can be accomplished in the following ways: -Discontinue use of paper encounters which record information when a patient checks in for an appointment by implementing an electronic device(lap top, tough book, ipad) to record this information... more »

Incentive to Spend

I work in contracting and it is very clear to me and everyone I've talked to that there is an incentive to spend all the money given, not save it. It's called End of Fiscal Year Spending. If you don't use it, you lose it. This is a problem with the way the budgets are created and dispersed. Any money that you do not spend, money you save, many times gets taken away from next year's budget. This is what has people... more »

REFORM CONGRESS

A lot of boys and girls grow up and want to serve their country. These children see their parents working hard, paying their bills, being honest, and respecting each other. When some of these children grow up, they decide that they want to run for political office. Some of these big children get elected to the Congress in Washington DC. WHAT HAPPENS??? A lot of these big children forget the importance of paying their... more »

Cell Phone Carrier Service- Free

Some installations (and also public lands) have cell phone carriers who lease out land to have cell phone towers on them. Require that a provision of the lease be to allow the government cell phones and blackberries at that particular area to have free coverage on that providers network.

GOING GREEN

With our world today, our natural resources are diminishing, and we are trying to do what we can to reserve them. Solar panels could be built, and save money spent on energy throughout time. Small solar panels can power small things throughout our facilities, if the government does not want to spend millions on huge solar panels. A great way to promote going green could be installing solar panels on the GEMS (Green Environmental... more »

Stop making parts of programs that have nothing to do with it.

When the Obamacare package came up and I heard it was 2500 pages long, it made me wonder how long a bill can really be. So I started reading some of it, and quite frankly I was rather upset. Many many portions of the bill had nothing to do with healthcare, but rather it gave money to states for other things. So, really the US government needs to stop bassing bills with all those extras, and also needs to amend bills... more »

Eliminate Government Programs that have no effect.

Why is the government sponcering so many programs that in the long run show no affect on what they are for? I would like to know.

Anyway, lets get rid of all the programs that have been proven to show no affect other than to just make you feel good they are there. With the resources freed up from those programs we can put more money into education or debt repayment and get this country right back on track.

Get rid of Congresses Personal Jets and Other things

Right now the biggest thing that comes to my mind is Nancy Pelosi and the multi million dollar jet she had the government pay to get her so she could fly nonstop from her home state to DC, with her, her crew, and 200 reporters. Seriously, why is the government paying to transport reporters? Everytime her aircraft flys in any direction it costs the taxpayers 60,000 dollars. Why not do away with all the private aircraft,... more »

Change the tax code and laws!!!!!

Right now in the US we all are taxed based on our income. As we can see this does not work because half the people who pay into taxes get refunds and end up paying nothing in, and those who are at the top of the ladder end up having so many deductions they can do they end up paying nothing as well. Not forgetting there are also people who just do not report taxes at all. I ask that we change or tax code up from one... more »

Pull paper money out of the economy/Stop printing it!!!

If my information is correct, the US Government has had trillions of dollars in cash printed with no sure way to shore up the value of the US dollar. While done early on in the whole credit debocal the inflation which would normally step in an hurt the value of our currancy was offset. Right now with the amount of paper money in the system, and banks still not loaning it out, I believe it is time for the Fed to start... more »

Eliminate the Government Purchase Card Program

Their is no need to have a Government Purchase Card. The only reason that we do have the Purchase Cards is out of convienance. The purchase card can easily be abused and justified. It is not advantageous to have because every purchase can be done through a Purchase Order; thus, eliminating the need to allow members to openly use. A centralized supply command should be set in place that will allow requestors to order... more »
