Consolidate EPA Laboratories

Last time I counted, there were 39 EPA Laboratories nationwide. Most labs have ther own personnel, infrastructure and instrumentation/lab equipment. Why not put all laboratory suport under one AAship, such as an AA for Laboratory and Scientific Support. We can reduce costs by millions of $$ by eliminating duplicative instrumentation, lab equipment & facilities costs. We also would eliminate the need for a large number ...more »

Rule Writers Rejoice: Streamlined Notice-and-Comment Rulemaking

The Problem: Responding to traditional notice-and-comment rulemaking required by the Administrative Procedure Act takes a substantial amount of effort for both the agency and submitters. For each rulemaking, the agency must address hundreds and sometimes thousands of comments submitted by the public to determine if the comment is substantive and whether the comment is the same or similar to that of other submissions. ...more »

Indoor air quality changes due to climate change

I believe that it would be of benefit to the Government to review Federal facilities for indoor air quality and employee health changes due to climatic change. A new report is due to be released from the Institute of Medicine (IOM) summarizing the state of scientific understanding of the effects of climatic change on indoor air and public health (Climate Change, the Indoor Environment, and Health). A review of federal ...more »
