Make EIV open to CPD Clients

the use of the HUD Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) System is available to HUD public housing and assisted housing owners. It makes easy the verification of income data. However, HUD's CPD clients have the same income verification requirements for their affordable housing projects and this system is not available to CPD clients. It would save our CPD clients a great deal of time, money and effort if they could use... more »

REDUCE NEED FOR OFFICE SPACE

Shared office spaces should be a condition for telecommuting and telecommuting should be offered to all noncritical position employees to reduce the need for one or more building space rental while improving the quality of air in the D.C. area. In this way, the spaces at K St. and Capitol Place could soon be vacant with dramatic cost savings. This would also cut transportation costs via the use of shuttles.

SAVE AWARD PROCESS

Many of us in each agency have issues that many of our co-workers want to participate in and vote on. The only current method is to go to our agency and review all of the issues until they find the one they are looking for. My suggestion is to place at the top a drop down box like the one for the various agencies another COUPLE of drop down boxes. One that displays all of the Serial Numbers of the suggestions and one... more »

Innovating Fee Collection at Federal Recreation Sites

Currently, fee collection at federal recreation sites is an intensely human-driven task. Federal employees staff entrance stations, visitor centers, and campgrounds in order to collect the fees associated. And since cash is the primary means of payment, additional employees are needed to reconcile the registers and make deposits. To top all of this off, often times one division collects entrance fees while another collects... more »

Paperwork reduction: meaningful electronic storage

Annual required training reminds Federal employees that we are actually required to PRINT and store all significant government records. In reality, time pressures mean that this is not done in many cases. Hire Google (or similar) to develop seamless electronic records storage so that employees can archive with one click, thus saving time, paper and money. Records would then be electronically searchable, again saving... more »

Green Today - Balance Tomorrow

Develop uniform IT systems and mandate telework. The question should be asked how are redundant sytems improving efficiencies. Within DOD there are numerous contract writing tools and within DFAS numerous systems for effecting payment on contracts. However, ability to retrieve real time data does not exist for all agencies to help in the management of existing contracts. In 2000 an attempt was made to streamline the systems.... more »

Stop using the IRS to decide if a church is a Church

Currently the arbiter of whether a religious group a church, a ministry, or a cult like pyramid scheme is the IRS. Rather than use federal resources chasing this goose, have churches conform to state corperate regulations. This would go a long when straightening tax questions for religious leaders too.
